I’m a Junior going to Senior year next fall and I’m thinking of majoring in Pharmacy when I go to college. I heard you have to take a few classes but I don’t know if you have to be at least 18. I heard high school seniors work as technicians but not 100% sure. Anyone know if i can be one?

Hello. I am a pharmacy technician student. I go to a technical school and one has to be 18 to be in the program. It is the law to work with meds. One also needs a high school diploma to participate.
One option is to work in a pharmacy as a customer service aide. That way you can be in that working environment and you can “get your feet wet”. Also, you can meet people that you can network with in when you get your pharm. tech. diploma. It could hep you find a job. It won’t hurt.
I hope I have been of some help to you. I wish you well.
Yep some requre some proficiency courses find out what is required in your state I got in on a diploma and they taught me as I went you do need a license frm your state to be a Pharmacy tech. If you are one in a hospital you may need more formal training.
No, not in Ohio anyway. plus you need a ton of education. It’s a tough program. Most of them know more than docs do. Very smart people.
You need to go to your local pharmacies and ask. Speak with the pharmacist and explain your plans to him/her and I’m sure they can arrange a plan suitable for both of you.
