Can Get Into Any Of The Schools I Am Applying To?

This Question From Pharmacy Technician Schools in Connecticut | 3 Answers

QUESTION:

I am a high school senior who is planning on applying to:
Princeton
Boston University (7 year med program)
Brown
Siena College (med program)
Providence College
Tufts University
University of Connecticut (med program)
University of Rhode Island (pharmacy program)
I took the SATs in may, and got a 660-math, 550- reading, 580 writing. I’m retaking them, and I know I will do significantly better. I also took the AP bio exam, got a 5, and took the SAT II in biology and got a 720. I’m taking the Chemistry and Math Level 2 as well.
I participate in about 4 different activities in school, not to mention the constant babysitting throughout the years. I also volunteer at a hospital and I’m in National Honors Society, have a GPA of 3.744 (weighted on 4.3 scale) and ranked 17/268. Do you think I have a shot at these colleges and what do you recommend?

You should apply to Holy Cross. It is well regarded for its premed program and is ranked higher in US News & World Report rankings than all of the schools on your list except for Princeton, Brown and Tufts. Your stats match up well with their average GPA and they are also SAT optional.

you have a good chance of getting into at least 3 of these schools if not more. tufts is extremely competitive, and their application has ridiculous short response essays… but its a great school.
from what i remember of applying to schools, the application for BU’s 7 year medical program had a lot of different parts to it, and required certain scores on tests..
other than that, your grades seem high enough to get into very good schools, but i would not really mention baby sitting as an extra curricular unless it involves a special after care program or something.
    good luck!!

Well, to be honest, you don’t have enough APs, and your test scores, school grades, and class rankings aren’t that good. Volunteering at the hospital is definitely a plus. Unless you have some hidden weapon, e.g. a legacy, rich parents, belong to a minority, amazing sports, etc, I think Princeton and Brown are long shots, but you have a pretty good chance with the rest of the schools on your list.
Sorry to sound harsh, but here are some stats. Princeton has around a 8% acceptance rate nationally, and that’s *after* you consider that it’s mostly the top students who apply. So take the people ranked 1-10 at your school – maybe ONE of them will get in.
