]]> I keep looking at colleges. Online the schools say that they offer pre-pharmacy, but when I go to apply and look under the courses they don’t have pre-pharmacy listed, they have “pharmacy technician- cert completion” is this the same course as pre-pharmacy, and will it allow you to transfer into the PharmD program?

]]> I finished my junior year with all but one credit needed to graduate, and I do my high schooling online. I only need one english credit in order to qualify for graduation, and I was wondering if I could do one of those pharmacy technician programs while completing my high school degree? Like those online college programs that just train you how to do your job for like a year and then help you find a job in that field. Would I have to wait until I completed that teeny-weeny little ONE credit to be able to enroll in those programs? Or can I just do it all at the same time whenever the school year starts?
I realize that you have to be 18 to be certified as a pharmacy technician, but I’ll be 18 in 10 months, so I figured I wouldn’t finish the program till then anyways.
Anybody know anything about these kinda things?

]]> I’m 16 years old and a junior in the International Baccalaureate program (it is known for its incredibly rigorous curriculum).
I applied to be a pharmacy technician online for CVS/Pharmacy and then went into the store I am hoping to be hired at and filled out the application again.
As untrained and still in high school, are my chances of receiving the job slim? I read that CVS/Pharmacy is a company that provides room for growth; does that mean they are willing to hire fresh faces and train them from the start? What should I do next to promote my chances, if there is anything to do at all?

]]> Ok, guys! I applied to UMKC School of Pharmacy for fall 2010. They are changing their program, which is one of the reasons why I am applying. Plus, my mom and sister lives in the area and I definitely want to be close to my family during this time in my life. I did 6 years in the air force as a pharmacy technician and currently in the AF reserves. I am a CPhT-been certified since 2006. I have an extensive background as a pharmacy technician and was in charge of controlled substances, high cost medication, infection control monitor, crash carts, etc. I was inducted in Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society in 2007. I had a 3.8 GPA, but I failed a pre calculus class at another university due to personal reasons. I explained that in a typed letter to UMKC. I am shooting for a 4.0 this semester, which should boost my grade back up to a 3.6. I have not taken the PCAT yet-will taking in January. I also have a few extracurricular activities. I am so afraid that the failed class will hurt my chances of getting in, even though it is not a prerequisite. What do you think my chances are of getting in? I am trying to shoot for above an 80 on my PCAT and will be taking the Kaplan online course this Christmas break. Help???
