LEARN HOW TO BECOME A PHARMACY TECHNICIAN WITH THE ADVICE OF REAL PEOPLE
This Question From Pharmacy Technician Schools in Texas | 1 Answer
I am a Texas resident and a current senior in high school nearing the end of the school year. I am ranked 71/601 students in my high school class but unfortunately I am not in the top 10% of my class (stupid rule in my opinion). I applied and got into Baylor, Texas State, UT Dallas, but I did not get into UT Austin due to “space”. I was offered the CAP program at UT to attend another UT system school and come back to UT Austin in a year. I am still waiting on Texas A&M and would really like to go there too if I get in.
Option #1: Take the CAP offer and spend a year at another UT system school (UT Arlington or UT San Antonio) and then be guaranteed admission to the UT Austin after one year.
Option #2: Deny the CAP offer and attend one of the other universities that I DID get admitted to (such as UT Dallas) then try my luck at transferring after a year. I know this can be pretty difficult to do because you are competing with so many other students.
Option 3#: Drop the dream of UT Austin and begin my college education at another institution all together. Perhaps Texas A&M if I am admitted.
My Stats
- GPA: 3.97/4.0
- Rank: 71/601
- SAT/ACT: okay scores and 25 on ACT
- Community Service: 60 hrs at a hospital
- Honor Roll every year for a 4.0 GPA
- Certified Nurse’s Assistance License (CNA)
- Pharmacy Technician work based internship (registered pharm tech)
- Home Health Aid work experience (5 months)
- Mu Alpha Theta, NHS, and HOSA clubs
- Appointed competition coordinator of HOSA (200+ member club)
- Good Essays
- Great letters of recommendation
- Participate in more community service like walks etc..
And do you think I can get into A&M with these stats?

I applied at UT and got rejected also :[ but i am out of state…
but at least you got that CAP offer.
If you really want to attend UT then you should def. take the CAP offer since its guaranteed that you’ll get in after a year.
And well it also depends on what you would like to major in. If another school has a better program then go there.
but i’m a huge follow your dreams person and id say keep pursuing UT with the CAP offer.
Good luck!
