In agreement with poster “gettingb.” I can tell you from personal experience (my sister was an HR exec) very few organizations recognize online degrees and those who are successful with them are those individuals who are already employed. Additionally, there are some fields where the online degree is not recognized period in the organization (paralegal, legal secy, pharmacy tech (medical profession), law school, just to name a few.)
It is not possible the degrees you are interested in can give you the kind of knowledge and experience you would get in an actual school setting. If you still wish to pursue this form of education as GettingB wrote make sure they are accredited and one of the best ways is to take an online course(s) with a university who is recognized. Just out of curiosity I looked up this school and there are quite a number of complaints from former students. You are not doing your research. There is even a former student who posted on yahoo answers saying to stay away from this school.
hello there. I took the pharmacy tech program with penn foster. I completed the training course in 4 1/2 months. Afterwards I applied for my license here in california. In this state you need you license to work as a ph tech. Then about a month later after applying everywhere walmart hired me on full time at 12.50 an hour w/ benefits. So all in all i was successful. I am currently taking the medical billing and coding program that they offer as well. I think that the programs that they offer are well worth your time! Best wishes
I don’t know about this school specifically, but I have been doing a lot of research on schools, online and offline. The one thing that keeps coming up is that whatever school and course you choose should definitely be accredited/approved for that field. It does NOT necessarily mean you won’t find a job. It means that for your security and in marketing yourself, you need the preferred or even required things.
There may be certain states or employers that require or strongly prefer the school you attend be accredited for a certain field. To be approved or accredited, the school has to offer specific classes that meet approval. Now, you may find an employer who does not care and it may not matter, but if it is preferrred by an employer, you will stand out against those who do not have the approved courses. If you change jobs, you will continue to have a “better resume.”
The best thing to do is once you pick a course, check out what the requirements may be in your area. Look at job ads and see what employers want-this helps a whole lot!!!!! I will tell you that I have heard many employers do not like very short-term courses (like weeks long). There are courses that take less than a year, but I would avoid the 8 week ones, things like that. You can even check out message boards and job sites to see what may be required. You want a good solid course if you are going to spend your $. You have to be careful.
I do know that for online courses in general, there will be employers who do not like them. They will not hire people with those degrees. It is going to come down to each employer.
Google the school you mentioned and see if you find anything negative. If you come up with a lot of bad reviews, be careful.
