For reliable information about pharmacy consult the website of the AACP (Am Assc Colleges of Pharm) – their website has a lot of info and links to all the accredited colleges of pharm in the US.
Pharmacy is a great career – the starting salaries are very high (quite a lot higher than what a PA makes – and PA’s mainly spend their days dealing with patients who have minor ailments – you never get to handle any of the interesting cases, you are basically there to save the doctor from wasting his time on unimportant cases). In pharm many of the possible positions in medical research, patients care, or pharmaceutical business areas are quite challenging and even better paid. PAs arent trained in business or research so their opportunities for branching out into new areas are limited.
The entry requirements for courses before pharm school are about the same as med school except some pharm schools do not require you to finish your BA or BS if you have done all the prerequisites. Pharm school is four years and requires a lot of hard courses, mainly chemistry and physiology. There would be no hope of you being a pharmacist if you had any problems with chemistry.
Because salaries are so high and so many good jobs available, the number of applications for pharm schools have skyrocketed. But there are only about 100 schools of pharm and many of them are rather small. So there just arent a lot of seats. That makes entrance very competitive.
Good luck. Check that website for the reliable info!

the standards are kind of hard to get in but with hard work and a hearty attitude anything can be accomplished if you want it bad enough. I had a friend who was trying to apply for pharmacy school but she quit and switched majors because she didn’t believe in herself. Don’t be the same way, if you want it go for it.

I haven’t gone through this, but I’ve heard that pharmacy school is extremely hard to get into, and maybe even harder to stay in. If you’re willing to work at it though, go for it!

You really want to fill prescriptions. For the same effort you could become a Physician Assistant and be the one writing them.
