I am at a unknown college & my goal is to go to pharmacy or med school. I am a freshman in college. I don’t know if I should transfer to another college my junior year. I am going to a HBCU in virginia & I am white & it is very small, every one knows each other. I want to major in biomedical engineering w/a minor in spanish but my school doesn’t have that major or minor. Should I transfer to a school back home in Florida. The school I am at now is paid for w/a sports scholarship & the school back home is paid for w/Florida pre-paid. So cost is not an issue. I like the school I am at now b/c we have a good sports team & the teachers know you & can help you when ever you need help plus the classes are easy. I am afraid if I transfer that I will just be another number & the classes are going to be harder & my GPA is going to go down. Do you think I should transfer so I can take biomedical engineering at another school or do you think I should stay at my school & major in something else

Got to see what you want to do with your life. What kind of goals do you have in minds? Search within yourself and see what kind of jobs you would like to have in the future and would make you happy. If transferring to a new school make you feel more confident about your future, you should then go for it. There is always risks at making a new decision. Not to mention, anxiety associated with a new decision and new environment.
However, nothing is set in the stone. You do not know until you try. Why don’t you make a list of advantages and disadvantages of transferring on a piece of paper? Maybe that will help you decide.

My best advice would be to check out Florida before you rush over there, exactly for the reason you stated. Check the classes at the Florida school and make sure its really what you want. You might also want to check other schools just to be sure they don’t have a better program than Florida’s.
I would go with whoever has the best track record in terms of the classes you want. Do you really want bio-med engineering? Is there another field you might be interested in?? Talk to a counselor. Granted, they are NOT always the best to be giving advice, but they can give you an idea as to what you really want or need!
