This Question Is From: Pharmacy Technician Schools in North Carolina and has 2 Answers
But I’m not sure how to go about it. I’m starting high school in the fall, and I know I might still change my mind. My dad’s taking me to visit a college (in North Carolina) pretty soon, and he told me to choose one I want to go see. What would I need to major in to be a pharmacist? What’s a good college in NC that would offer that major? What schools in NC would offer pharmacy AFTER college?

To get reliable answers, go to the website of the AACP (easy to google) – that is the official organization that coordinates all colleges of pharmacy in the USA. They have lists of all the pharm schools and links to them so that you can see what their requirements are and how the admissions work.
You should understand that admission to pharmacy is very competitive. For most pharm schools you need a minimum of two years college with a high GPA in tough courses like chem, physics, bio, organic chem, etc. And many require the PCAT – like SAT only focused on sciences. 100,000 kids apply to pharm school every year and only about 10,000 degrees are handed out, so that tells you how tough it is.
Good luck!
you have to major in pre-pharmacy (for 2 years) and then you generally need to apply to the pharmacy school that the school offers, which involves taking a test. Pharmacy is very competitive, with most pharmacy schools only accepting about 100 students per year. As you are just starting high school, over your high school career, make sure that you take chemistry, as well as a variety of other science classes, and if at all possible advanced math classes. It is not possible to take pharmacy AFTER college as it is a 6 year program, you just have to start with it right away.
