I Want To Be A Pharmacy Technician, But Is That A Good Idea?

This Question Is From: Pharmacy Technician Schools in Oregon and has 2 Answers

Im 25, I graduated a few years ago with a bachelor in psychology. It hasn’t really gotten me anywhere. I live in Oregon/Washington border and most everything requires a master’s.
Recently, I was thinking about going back to school on a separate note to become a pharmacy technician. I currently am a collector. I’m projected to make about $36,000 a year with my bonuses included. I know pharamcy technician is prolly going to be a lot less than that… but I’m willing to take a paycut just so I don’t have to deal with the ugliness and stress of collections. Should I try pharmacy tech, or stick with my degree, or something else? What should I do?
Thanks.

The average salary for a tech is $13 per hour. You do not need any education to become a tech. A tech with a BS is over qualified. In retail, a pharm tech has no room for advancement. Most get frustrated and leave within 5 years.
