LEARN HOW TO BECOME A PHARMACY TECHNICIAN WITH THE ADVICE OF REAL PEOPLE

In State Or Out Of State College? I Need Help?

This Question From Pharmacy Technician Schools in Pennsylvania | 2 Answers

QUESTION:

i am a senior at a private highschool in pennsylvania. 3.7 gpa with a 1620 SAt total and on the border of being in the bottom/ top half of my graduating class. (horrible stats i know) but i volunterr ALOT and do one instrument and one sport. i want to go to college for pre-pharmacy and then end up going to another college for my pharmD
i dont know where to go to college though. i am the type of person that does not do well on my own. so i was thinking about going to college in florida because mjy two best friends are applying down there too. i really like the city of pittsburg though and i realise instate tuition would be cheaper. im just very into the night life, im good at juggling parties and school work so i would want a very urban setting. i like big colleges too, but ones that still have a small student to faculty ratio.
is there any schools you know of on the east coast(anywhere from florida up to newyork(but not past newyork because i dont do well with cold weather)
i really appreciate your help if you could give me any personal experience with picking your own college or schools you would suggest that i would be able to get into, or cities that have good universities where i could apply at.

If I were you, I’d go to a cheaper school for your pre-pharmacy studies and a better, more expensive school for your Pharm.D. In this case you would probably get your B.A. in biology and then your Pharm.D. Since you’ll have to get two degrees, it’s probably wisest to save up your money in the beginning and then try to get into a really great Pharm.D. program.
I wouldn’t try to go to Florida because your friends are there. Sure, you can apply to a couple schools there, but I wouldn’t let your friends’ decision affect yours.
Thinking off the top of my head, here are some universities I would recommend:
    Pitt
    Penn State
    Slippery Rock
    Lehigh
    Robert Morris
    SUNY Binghamton
    SUNY Stony Brook
    Drexel
    George Mason (GMU)
    Christopher Newport (CNU)
    Mary Washington
    Old Dominion (ODU)
    U of Richmond
    NC State
    UNC-Charlotte
    Clemson
    College of Charleston
    Florida Atlantic (FAU)
    Florida International (FIU)
    New College of Florida
    Central Florida (UCF)

Instate would be cheaper in the long run. Think of all that student debt and if you plan on pursuing a masters later down the road the money might be a hindrance.
You’re young, I can tell if you’re into the party scene. College isn’t about that. Yeah people get sucked into it, but don’t do it to much. You’re college experience should be more about the academics and the extracurriculars that could land you that job once you graduate. Also, if you already have a major or an idea of a major looking at a school where they program is good or great should also be a priority.
Branch out. Don’t go and follow your friends. Be your own person and enjoy being in college. Go where ever you want to go. If you’re social like it sounds like – you won’t have any trouble meeting new people and enjoying the life where ever you go. You don’t want to look back 5 years from now and say I wish I’d gone there or done that but I was to afraid. I’m not saying out of your comfort zone is easier. It just makes you a better and stronger person.
    Good luck.
