This Question Is From: Pharmacy Technician Work and has 1 Answer
I am a second-year university student seeking a job, and one that interests me is working at a local pharmacy (rite-aid, walmart, etc) as a Pharmacy Technician (10-14$ an hour). To be eligible, you must pass the PTCB exam. There are classes at local community colleges that run 200~ hours but cost around 3-5 thousand dollars, but they teach you about to test so you can pass it.
My question – Being a mature university student who is not afraid to self-learn, is it viable to try to study for this test? Is My Major is Biology and minor is Chemistry. I have looked at sample questions online and many are not very difficult with nothing but random stored knowledge..
So can anyone who may work in the pharmaceutical field or has taken this test give some feedback into if this is something that would maybe work out?

It is not necessary to go through 200 hours of classroom study to pass the PTCB, no. With what you have said about being a Biology major and having some Chem under your belt, you will already have a head start, since 65% of what needs to be learned for the PTCB is Math.
