It is possible, but you need to know that Pharm. D programs are HIGHLY competitive. Don’t limit yourself by focusing on one school. There are only four school in the state of Florida that offer the program, and each receives well over a thousand applications each year for 100-200 spots. Each school requires a little different set of courses before you can apply, so try to meet the needs of multiple schools while completing your CC classwork. If you really want to be a pharmacist then I would highly suggest applying to schools outside the state as well, just in case.
In theory, you can get in after 2 years at a CC, but in reality, it almost never happens. My school has about 160 spots, and they get about 1500 applications. Some schools require that certain prereqs be taken at a 4 year school. It takes on average 6-8 years, depending on if you get a bachelors or not.
I dont know a about Florida schools, but I am going to Pharmacy school in ohio…there are about 200 students applying for the pharmD program(not pre pharm) and about 98 get in…so it is usually pretty competitive. Good luck…Im hoping all works out for the both of us.
Ps…at my school it is 2 years for prepharm and 4 for the PharmD program. Some schools are 8 years total
