I know you get paid better if you actually go to college and take the certified courses to be an actual tech. I believe it's a two year program. I've been working on and off for CVS since 2005. If you enjoy that type of work, then stick with it. I believe hospital pharmacies pay the same. Though, of course, the rate fluctuates with experience. Obviously. Personally, I plan on going to Pharmacy school. I'm still doing my undergrad, though once I'm accepted *fingers crossed*, they do have an intern program. I wish you luck. I am a pharmacist and i love my customers, but most of these people are not well mentally and some may be addicted to drugs, it's best to stay away from these types of people. Also when you work in a hospital, you get to meet other people in the healthcare field. From pharmacy tech, you can move to resp. tech, ultrasound tech, radiology tech and so forth.
