Question About Becoming A Pharmacist?

Question About Becoming A Pharmacist?

This Question Is From: Pharmacy Technician Schools in Minnesota and has 1 Answer

i’m a junior in high school and today someone from the university of minnesota came to talk to my chemistry class about pharmacy. he said that there is a huge shortage and the beginning salary of a pharmacist is about $100,000 in mn!!
i take mostly IB/AP classes, however i’m not in advanced chemistry. i think pharmacy would be really interesting, but i was wondering if any pharmacists/pharmacist students have any advice. this might be personal, but how much do you make or did you make when you first started? how long did it take to complete school? where did you go to school?

I’m currently enrolled in Auburn’s School of Pharmacy and let me tell you- it is no picnic! We have atleast 2-3 tests every week but it is worth it. To be honest, starting pay is over $100,000 now. You have to be willing to work hard during your undergraduate years but there is good news. In the past, Pharm schools required a bachelors degree but now they are starting a 3-year program where the student majors in “Pre-pharmacy” or pre-med, pre-vet. Pharmacists have great options such as choosing your own hours so raising a family is also possible. If you have a dream, go for it! Nothing comes easy :)
