i am looking into pharmacy and its at least 6 years of school which can add up to alot of loans. i know the starting salary is great but is it really worth it when you can go to school 2 yrs longer to become a doctor or something?? i think pharmacy is really interesting and everything but what are some other good medical careers??

Pharmacy techs are pretty sweet. . . I am interested in looking into it if I had money.
It depends on how much time you are willing to put into your schooling. Medical school requires all of your attention, while to get your Phd. you need to write a thesis that will take a couple years within themselves.

While the schooling is similar to a doctor time wise (either 2 or 4 year then 4year PharmD school) there are distinct differences. Medical Doctor education requires many years post graduate for residency, fellowships and other training methods. Pharmacy graduates are often finished with their training within one year of graduating from pharmacy school.
Also it depends on how you want to “help” personally i want to be the front line helping person (doctor) while many of my friends who just go into pharmD programs want to be the counseling and dispensing side of it.
additionally.. there is pharmaceutical research, but as for retail pharmacy, the pay is good, hours are good, people are annoying but it seems like a great career. Go for it!
