This Question Is From: Pharmacy Technician Schools in Kentucky and has 2 Answers
I am going to be a senior this fall, and I am considering becoming a pharmacist. I currently live in Kentucky and I am planning on attending University of Kentucky when I graduate. I am interested in pharmacy and was wondering if anyone could help me plan out what I am suppose to do from this point forward. I am going to take AP English 4, AP Chemistry, Physics, Probability and Statistics, Microsoft Certification Program, and Advanced MultiMediaPublishing. I also speak fluent Japanese. My GPA is around 3.1, maybe higher and my last ACT score was 26. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the steps I must take to get in to a pharmacy school. Such as the courses I must take my Freshman and Sophomore year in college to get ready for the PCAT/get accepted into pharmacy school, whether or not I must take the SAT and/or ACT and the minimum scores and how to acclerate to my future.

Pharmacy Schools each have their own pre requisites, most of them include, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, General Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Biochemistry, Physics(1 and 2) Pre- calculus 1 and 2 and Calculus 1, 4 classes of Social Sciences, Psychology and Economics. But check out the college you plan on attending for pharmacy and verify the classes you need, you will also need to take the PCAT, Standardized test for pharmacy students. Minimum GPA is getting higher because the demand is high right now so try to keep your grades up. My boyfriend attends to NSU(Nova Southeastern University) as a Pharmacy Student. Have in mind this is a Pharm.D a 4 year program with a board you have to pass, same as studying medicine. Good Luck. and great choice of career.
I work as apharmacy assistant in Australia and I don’t know about over there but here the pharmacy game has changed for the worst.Pharmacy looks like it is going into food chains and from what the pharmacist says they don’t get a lot of money from it(that is if you own your own pharmacy)and there are alot of discount pharmacies around now which makes it hard for the individual pharmacy to be competitive.Just a thought cheers
