What To Do About College If I Want To Become A Pharmacist?

This Question From Pharmacy Technician Schools in Minnesota | 2 Answers

QUESTION:

I’m a sophmore in high school with a 3.4 GPA. I’m involved in Model UN and key club and do golf in the spring (though i didn’t do golf as a freshman). Ive decided i want to be a pharmacist and was wondering what to do about college. What are some schools i could get into with all this? Also I’ve heard doing 2 years undergrad and then jump right into pharmacy school at the same school is the quickest. What are some other routes to go and should i go to a pre-pharmacy school then transfer? Also what are some pharmacy schools that i could get into, preferably in Wisconsin or Minnesota?

I know you asked for in Wisconsin or Minnesota, but I’m mostly familiar with the Alabama schools. But, what the heck, some extra replies can’t hurt.
University of South Alabama (Mobile, Alabama) has a very good program.
Auburn University (unfortunately) also has a very good program.
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) has a very good pharmacy program and has a VERY well respected medical school. The US News and World Report also rated it as the best value out of the medical schools in the South.
I’ve had a few visits to UAB for different things, and I have to say, no other hospital has made a better impression on me.

You want an 0-6 school. This is where you start college on track for the Pharm D. You do 2 years of pre-reqs and then automatically start pharmacy school right after. Most people have to apply to pharmacy school after the 2 years. There are none of these schools in the states you mentioned but some in Ohio.
    Ohio Northern University
    University of Findlay
    From Ohio Northern:
High School applicants should have a strong background in the sciences and mathematics. Four years of science and four years of math are recommended. High School physics is recommended but not required. Solid performance on the ACT and/or SAT tests; excellent high school achievement and rank; and the applicant’s activities/community service profile will all be factors in the admission decision. Writing samples and two references are highly recommended. Visits are encouraged. Selected candidates will be invited to campus for a mandatory interview during the month of December.
    Best of Luck
