So, I’ve gotten accepted to all but one of the schools I’ve applyed to. I’ve narrowed it down to two: the University of New England (Maine) and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (Boston).
UNE will give me $5,000/year and I really like it there. But, MCPHS is like the Harvard of dental school. (I’m going for Dental Hygiene).
UNE gaurentees a room and car every year and MCPHS only provides houseing the 1st year, meaning I’d have to live with my grandma in Cambridge for the rest of the time, and no car, at all!
I think I want to go to UNE, but my family wants me to go to MCPHS.

go to the college you like, and the most affordable, in that order. if you’re happy where you are, you’ll do better in school, and cost is defiantly important. both of these schools are good choices, and frankly you may have to do more school in the future so might as well go for cost efficiency and quality of life now.
I agree with Smm. However do realize the more debt you have the greater burden paying it back. To me that would make the choice for me – go to UNE. Are your parents willing to give you the extra money to go to MCPHS? If not it strikes me they may be letting their pride in you cloud their judgment about financial realities.

This is a decision that you should make for yourself and not for others. My friend made his decision for his college choice based on what others had said and he regrets it.
Go to the college that really wants you there and that seems to be UNE. They want you there and they are willing to prove it. MCPHS isn’t proving that they really want you now are they? This is a decision that you have to make and make it for yourself. What will matter more, what you think or what others think? Your family is just thinking of prestige and not of what is actually the best or where you will best most happy at it seems.
Go to UNE, they want you to go to their school and that is where you should go.
I’d go to UNE, the school that you like the most. They’re guarantee-ing you benefits so that’s #1.
Remember if you go to MCPHS you might end up with more debt than if you would have gone with UNE anyway. I also think that for jobs like dentistry with skills, experience will matter most in the end rather than credentials.
